Kerkstoel Beton is expanding with a new concrete plant in Arendonk. Thanks to its partnership with Arendonk-based company Mols, the company will double its capacity within three years and create at least 15 additional jobs.
Concrete can only be transported over a limited distance, and this second plant allows Kerkstoel to serve customers in a wider region more efficiently. Contractors and construction companies in Antwerp, Limburg and even the Netherlands can now count on a faster and more reliable concrete supply. “This expansion allows us to take our service to an even higher level. By delivering from two locations, we can produce more cubic metres per hour and respond faster to our customers’ demand,” says Van Rooy.
Sustainable concrete and the circular economy
With this expansion, Kerkstoel is also taking an important step in greening its concrete production. Mols, which specialises in recycling, supplies high-quality recycled construction rubble that Kerkstoel uses to produce more sustainable concrete. In time, this will allow up to 30% of the concrete’s components to become circular. “The construction sector has a shortage of high-quality recycled material. Thanks to this partnership, we are assured of a stable supply and can reduce our ecological footprint,” says Van Rooy. “It’s a win-win: Mols can further specialise in recycling, while we take the step towards more sustainable concrete.”
More capacity
In addition to greater production capacity, the new site opens the door to the Dutch market. Kerkstoel already supplies precast concrete in the Netherlands, but with the plant in Arendonk it can now also offer ready-mix concrete. This is an important milestone, as the Dutch market applies different quality standards and construction methods than Belgium.
